Press Release: Kevin Feely Black Card Appeal

The Kildare Co. Board can confirm that Kevin Feely is available for selection for the Round 4B Qualifier versus Armagh next Saturday July 29th having successfully contested the validity of the black card received in the League Match versus Clare in Newbridge on March 26th.

Both Feely and Team Manager Cian O’ Neill, along with Co. Board Chairman Ger Donnelly, presented their case to the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) last night in Croke Park. Both of the black cards received against Clare in the National League and last weekend versus Dublin were questioned, as a case for defence can only be initiated when 3 cards are accumulated, and not after each respective (black card) dismissal.

The CCCC found that Kevin’s black card from last weekend’s Leinster Final was administered correctly but that the one he received against Clare in March was not.

There will be no further comment on this matter from Kevin, Cian or the Co. Board in this regard as the priority now is the preparation of the team for next weekend’s match in Croke Park.
