2020 Hurling Action Plan Review

While activity on the field has been limited over the past year, the Kildare Hurling Committee have been working away in the background. At the end of 2020 they completed and presented to the County Management Committee, a comprehensive mid-term review of the Hurling Action plan which had been undertaken with each club.
The review focussed on the key area of participation and led to a series of recommendations presented to the Kildare Management Committee at the end for their implementation. It has also informed some key actions to be undertaken by the Hurling Committee in 2021. Thank you to all who participated in the review.

Camán Chill Dara Awards
We will shortly be launching our Camán Chill Dara Hurling Awards Scheme. This is a 3-year programme designed to recognise annually the achievement of clubs in developing and promoting hurling in Kildare.

Club Competitions  We’re looking forward to action recommencing on the field with both our club and county teams. 2021 will be a true festival of hurling with the 2020 and 2021 Club championships in all grades to be completed. We look forward to the CCC releasing their plan for Kildare GAA as soon as the national programme issues from Croke Park.

Poc Fada – Future actions hoped for year include the hosting of our Junior & Senior poc fada competitions (individual and teams) which ran so successfully in 2019. We hope to be able to announce a date for this soon.

Camán let’s Hurl – To help us all get back into action we’re seeking to develop a social hurling blueprint to be rolled out across the County. It’ll be an opportunity for any “armchair hurlers” to show what they can still do while getting some light exercise and having some craic. If this is of interest to your club please contact Colm Nolan at colm@waypoint.ie

County Teams
Although locked down, our County teams have still been very busy. Each of our management groups at Minor, U20 and Senior have been working remotely providing the necessary advice and support to our players helping them to prepare for the intercounty season ahead.
We’re looking forward now to the recommencement of collective training shortly and hope we will soon be able to welcome any supporters who wish to follow the teams and their preparations this year.

Mile buíochas to all the members of the Hurling Committee for their continued hard work and we look forward to a safe and successful season ahead when we can all return to the game we love so much. In the meantime please mind yourself and each other. Go dté sibh slán.
