“Bits & Bytes”
  • Croke Park issued an update to Clubs re the Player Injury Fund during the week & all are asked to review their renewal fees and to adjust where necessary your number of participating teams for the current season where relevant.
  • The GAA in partnership with the RNLI have launched their Summer Campaign regarding water safety. It is imperative that the message re water safety is distributed to members during the coming months.
  • Following a number of requests from Clubs the Kildare GAA Club Draw has been deferred to autumn. The revised dates are 10th & 24th September, 15th & 29th Updated promotional posters will be issued in due course.
  • Congratulations to Leixlip and Confey who recently received new defibrillator units after successfully fundraising for in the GAA Community Heart Programme. The programme is still open should Clubs wish to sign-up.
  • The Kelloggs GAA Cúl Camps commence next Monday and Kildare GAA are delighted to announce that Ballyteague & Kildare GAA Senior Football Jimmy Hyland will be the football ambassador for the summer. Jimmy will be visiting all 43 football camps over the coming weeks.
  • Brendan Cawley from the Sarsfields Club was this week confirmed on the GAA’s panel of 30 referees for the upcoming All Ireland Senior Football Championship. Best of luck Brendan!!
  • The GAA “Dadsandlads” programme was also launched last week. The programme similar to the “Mothersandothers” is aimed for those to rediscover their GAA skills whilst playing in a social environment. Further Info can be obtained on http://gaa.ie/dadsandlads

Proudest Day: Winning the U20 All Ireland.
Toughest or most disappointing day: Losing to Tipperary at Minor Level.
Biggest influence on your career: My Dad.

Pre-Match Day Routine: I get up around 9 and have a bowl of porridge and scrambled eggs. I puck the ball off a wall for 15 minutes then make my way to the venue.
Pre match rituals: I would always wear the same pair of match day socks for the year.
Toughest opponent: David Nally from Offaly. Very quick and mobile in the middle of the field and can score from distance off both sides.
Describe yourself in three words: Hard-working, honest and injury prone.
Proudest Day: Winning a leinster medal with Naas CBS or making my Senior Championship debut for the Club.
Toughest or most disappointing day: Losing the County Semi Final to Naas in 2019.
Biggest influence on your career: My Dad, Joe Dempsey and Máirtín Boran.
Joker in the panel: Kevin Aherne.
Best advice you were given: Remember why you’re doing it.
Best Trainer: Johnny Enright from Tipperary and Mike O’Dwyer from Dublin.
