Last Saturday 20th May saw the second coaching day in Hawkfield for the Lily Óg academy U12 footballers and hurlers. The Lily Óg academy coaching days is a joint project between North and South Boards in the county where over 200 players for football and 100 for hurling are coached by Kildare Gaa Coaching & Games personnel and play internal games over the course of a morning in Hawkfield Centre Of Excellence.
The Lily Óg programme sees the North and South Board clubs send representatives into 4 schools (groups) with approx 20-30 players in each school giving a total of 8 schools. These groups learn through coaching sessions within their own areas, coaching sessions with full time personnel and internal games.
Kildare Coaching & Games are determined to take the Lily Óg concept forward and develop it with the help of full time staff, club mentors, players and sponsors in order to give our young club players the best possible environment to learn and develop at their own pace.
Thanks to all players and a special word of thanks to Kildare Senior Football Manager Cian O Neill, senior football team players, Eoin Doyle and Neil Flynn and senior hurling team players Conor Gordon and Brian Byrne who took time out to visit our groups last Saturday.
