The Safeguarding 1 and 2 workshops offered by the Local Sports Partnership are the generic workshop from Sport Ireland. Yes, the GAA do recognise the workshop if a person attends it will allow them take up the position however, they must complete the Gaelic Games Safeguarding workshop relevant to their role within an agreed period of time.

The generic workshop does not cover Gaelic Games Code of Behaviour, or dealing with breaches of the Code etc. For the Safeguarding 2 workshop again it is a generic workshop and does not cover the process in dealing with an alleged breaches of the code regarding Determining and Hearing Committee’s.”

When completing the “Gaelic Games Associations’ – Child Safeguarding Risk Assessment 2018” it should be noted that the Safeguarding Level 1 or Level 2 refers to the GAA Safeguarding Level 1 or Level 2.
