It’s was an action packed weekend on the club scene as the Joe Mallon Motors Renault Senior Football Championship, the Court Yard Hotel Leixlip Intermediate Football Championship and the Tom Cross Junior Football Championship commenced.

In the Tom Cross Junior Football Championship, Milltown got off to a winning start with a 2-10 to 0-05 victory over Grangenolvin.

The Court Yard Hotel Leixlip Intermediate Football Championship saw two exciting games that both ended in a draw.

Two Mile House 2-13 Rathangan 1-16

In the Joe Mallon Motors Renault Senior Football Championship, there was wins for Celbridge, Athy, Sarsfields, Naas, Leixlip and Johnstownbridge.

Celbridge finished strong in the final ten minutes to beat Round Towers 1-18 to 0-14.

Athy were made work hard for their victory over Castledermot on Saturday evening but deservedly won the game 0-13 to 1-08.

It was goals galore between Sarsfields and Maynooth with but the County Champions ran out comfortable winners in the end on a scoreline of 3-22 to 4-11.

Naas were never troubled by their neighbours Eadestown and won the game comfortably with a final score of 3-24 to 0-02.

Leixlip got the better of Allenwood in a close game winning 2-07 to 1-08.

Johnstownbridge and Carbury served up a highly entertaining game with Johnstownbridge finishing strongly to win the game 2-15 to 1-13.

The final game of the weekend in the Joe Mallon Motors Renault Senior Football Championship between Moorefield and Confey went down to the wire and at the end both teams could not be separated at 0-14 points a piece.
